My Affordable Makeup Picks
We all know that the drugstore is home to some seriously good beauty products, putting their more expensive luxury counterparts to shame, and I have made it my duty to find all of those products and share them on my little part of the internet. Today we are talking about 5 of my current top affordable makeup picks so, go on, use your Boots points and get your drugstore makeup fix.
I still don't understand how Makeup Revolution products are so cheap, considering how great they are, their PRO range in particular really is fantastic. The stand-out product for me has to be the Foundation Drops, that have quickly secured their place among my all-time favourite foundations. These drops have a really thin, almost watery, consistency which makes them apply to the skin effortlessly (BeautyBlender all the way for this one), and the coverage is the perfect amount to blur out imperfections while still looking natural. The foundation leaves a radiant and dewy appearance to the skin so make sure to set this with some powder, but if you want a foundation that really does look just like skin, but perfected, then this is the product for you.
If you want a super light coverage foundation that pretty much passes for a tinted moisturiser, this No7 foundation is the one. When I'm going for a true no-makeup-makeup look this is the perfect product. A quick layer of this over the skin evens out the complexion without looking like you’re wearing anything, and with the added SPF it becomes the perfect everyday foundation. Normally I’ll apply this with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, and then go over and spot-conceal any areas that need it for the ultimate natural-looking base.
I take eyebrows very seriously, I have probably spoken numerous times about my eyebrows and the attention that goes into making them look acceptable in the mornings, so I have tried just about every eyebrow product that the drugstore has to offer, but have remained pretty loyal to this Nip&Fab offering for quite a while. I am back on the pencil train after a long time using pomades as they’re just so easy and quick, I think they are definitely here to stay in my makeup routine. That being said, I have never really explored Nip&Fab as a brand, I don’t even own a single other product from them apart from this eyebrow pencil, but picked it up on a whim and was surprised at how great it was. The colour is an exact match for me and it’s soft enough that it can be easily applied to the eyebrows, but not too creamy that it slips and slides everywhere, and it lasts all day without fading - tick, tick and tick!
I love a good one-wash eyeshadow, we all know there are days when you want to look like you tried a bit more than usual, but don’t really want to commit to the effort of actually trying, this is where shadows like this L’Oreal one really come into play. Golden Nude is the PERFECT shimmery brown/gold shade that looks stunning on it’s own, or paired with other shadows for a more complete look. I love this because it’s so shimmery so really draws attention to the eyes without looking too heavy or dark.
Collection is one of my favourite brands at the drugstore and, luckily for my debit card, one of the more affordable. They have some great products, like their concealer, mascara, and of course their liquid lip colour. These liquid lips are the perfect mix of a lipstick a lip gloss, giving enough colour to be worn on their own but glossy enough that they don’t dry down and become uncomfortable on the lips whilst not being sticky at all. They are super easy to apply and are the ultimate no-faff product to quickly put on in the morning and reapply during the day. As they are mainly a gloss they do wear off fairly quickly, which I don’t really mind because I hate the feeling of having the remnants of dry liquid lipstick on my lips and would much rather just have to reapply a gloss throughout the day.
