drugstore lipsticks

I'm not really that into lip products. There I said it... Unlike the majority I don't have a large collection of MAC lipsticks neatly displayed in acrylic organisers on my desk, nor do I have an enviable stash of nude lipsticks to my name. I mainly stick to more affordable lipsticks, mainly because I find myself wiping lip products off within the hour for the sake of eating, or just to get rid of the remnants of the lipstick I applied that morning. Long story short, as someone who does not reapply makeup I find lip products to be an unwanted hassle.
Despite my somewhat long rant this is a post about my favourite drugstore lip products. Although I don't wear lipsticks every day these are the ones that I always reach for and are worth the extra effort of reapplying throughout the day.

I have discovered a love for liquid lipsticks recently, they last for such a long time without needing to worry about them smudging throughout the day. If you are on the look for a drugstore liquid lipstick that dries completely matte then let me direct you towards the Sleek Matte Me. I have the shade Birthday Suit which is a gorgeous Kylie Jenner-esque nude. It dries completely matte and won't budge at all, the only problem is that with matte lipsticks comes dry lips so just make sure you put a healthy amount of lip balm on before use. If you're like me and prefer a liquid lipstick that doesn't leave your lips incredibly dry then my favourite has to be the Essence XXXL Longlasting Lipgloss. I have the shade Soft Nude which is the perfect nude shade for me. The formula of these liquid lipsticks is like velvet, it feels comfortable on the lips but does stay put for a while. It lasts longer than your average lipstick and subtly fades away over time but won't put up much of a fight if you're eating or drinking. Liquid lipsticks are most definitely the way to go for people who don't want the hassle of constantly reapplying lip product throughout the day.

For lipsticks the obvious favourite has to be the Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Nudes, I've even penned a whole post shouting my love for these lipsticks and I stick to my word that these are the best. Creamy, pigmented and comfortable - what more could you want in a lipstick. Another favourite that comes in from probably the most underrated drugstore brand - Natural Collection. Their Moisture Shine Lipsticks are really great and for under £2 I can find no flaws. I own 5 of the shades and love each and every one of them. My all time favourite has to be the shade Coral Shimmer which, fun fact, is the colour I wore to my prom. For the price the quality is amazing, the colour pay off is so good and they last a pretty long time. I wouldn't say they were exactly creamy but definitely don't turn your lips into a dry, flaky mess.

And finally to round up these 5 drugstore lip products I have a lip liner to throw into the mix. The Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liners are by far the best drugstore lip liners that I have tried. They glide onto the lips and don't cling to anything so you can over line your lips as much as you want. I've heard them be compared to the CT Lip Cheats, all I can say is that they are very good. I have the shade East End Snob which is a standard nude pink shade that goes perfectly with the majority of the lip products that I own - seriously the only shade that I own that is almost out of my comfort zone is the Lasting Finish Lipstick in 48.

For budget products I think I have managed to find some real gems, what are your favourite affordable lip products?
