A HOLY GRAIL MOISTURISER

June 16, 2016

I will be the first person to hold up my hands and call myself a moisturiser floozy, in my years of curating a perfect skincare routine I don't think I have ever purchased the same moisturiser twice. It's been a long ride and I have tried alot of different products. Maybe I'm just not a creature of habit when it comes to skincare, I just like to try new things. But maybe I just haven't found the one. Everyone has their 'holy grail' something or other and sure, I have my holy grail blush (Tarte Exposed), but when it comes to skincare I don't really have anything that I would deem 'holy grail'. But, after all this time, I think I may have found something that I am happy to give this title to, enter the Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturiser

First off the sleek monochrome packaging already makes it a bloggers dream, yes I am one to buy things for packaging, I know. But disregarding the simple yet perfect packaging, what's inside is pretty damn good. A lightweight moisturiser that easily glides over your skin and feels oh so good, leaving your skin hydrated and nourished. Better than anything else I have used. Kiehls is a brand that I haven't really tried before this but have heard a lot about. I went into the Kiehls store when I visited Brighton with my boyfriend and was umm-ing and ahh-ing over the ultra facial cream and the ultra facial moisturiser. Ultimately I chose the latter because it is a lot lighter in consistency which makes it a better fit for the morning as it sits really nicely on the skin under makeup and won't leave much residue that could disrupt the makeup you're putting on. In my eyes the cream alternative is a little thick for the day-to-day routine, it would be good for a skin treat on those no makeup days or at night but for the day it just wasn't what I wanted.

So if you have normal to dry skin and you're on the look out for a moisturiser that not only soothes and hydrates your skin, but that feels comfortable and light you have come to the right place. Despite it being a little thinner in consistency than a lot of the creams I've used in the past I actually prefer it this way as it sits perfectly under my makeup, leaving a smooth canvas that doesn't just sit on top of our skin.

Have you tried this moisturiser? What are your holy grail products?
