The Perfect Manicure ft. Essie

April 07, 2016

When it comes to nail polish I'm not very adventurous, nude nails are my thing and I don't dabble with nail designs or anything of the sort. I've been on the hunt for the 'perfect' nude for quite some time now and although I found the Rimmel polish I mentioned in this post, the formula was just not as good as I wanted. I normally paint my nails about once a week, if that, so I want a polish that's going to last and look good for that time which is something I hadn't found in the cheaper nail polishes I usually go for.

Recently my best friend mentioned how she got some Essie polishes and loved them. My first thought? Why on earth has it taken me this long to get some Essie nail polishes? But seriously. Ever since I started getting into beauty products I have heard people talk about these polishes, but better late than never right? I picked up Sand Tropez because it looked like the perfect nude colour and it really is, ever since I got it it's been the only colour on my nails. Hopefully it comes across well in the picture because it really is beautiful.

While looking at all the colours I saw the Gel Setter Top Coat and anything that promises to make my nails look like gel is something that I have to try out. This stuff is great, so great that I just had to mention it as soon as I could in this post. Honestly I can't see myself finding a top coat I like more than this because it's perfection in my eyes. It makes my nails look so shiny and glossy, completely like gel nails. I would say that this lasts on my nails without chips for a week but it can definitely last longer than that.

Finally a non-Essie polish that is the perfect start to the perfect manicure is the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails base coat. If you're like me and find that your nails are incredibly weak and have a tendency to peal and flake this is the base coat for you. I usually apply two coats of this before nail polish and it helps to strengthen my nails. Even when I have no nail polish on I will wear this just to give my nails the extra bit of help.

What are your favourite Essie shades? What are your manicure must-haves?
