Everyday Makeup Essentials

March 01, 2016

My everyday makeup has stayed the same for a pretty long time now, I mean the products do rotate and change around every couple of weeks but the look I go for always remains the same; flawless base, bronzed cheeks and winged eyeliner.

I have so many foundations on the go at the moment but one of my go-to's has been the L'Oreal True Match as it's simple to apply and looks flawless yet light on the skin. Paired with the Naked Skin Concealer the flawless base is simply checked off. To finish off the base I always use bronzer, blush and highlighter. I always find you need all three to complete the 'flawless base' as they all compliment each other and make your skin look perfectly healthy. For a budget bronzing duo I love the Freedom Contour Kit, I have Medium 02 which is one of the darker shades as I find the 'highlight' shade makes for a great bronzer on pale skin while the darker shade works really well as a contour so you have both the shades you need for beautifully chiselled and bronzed cheeks. As far as blush goes I really like the more nude toned blushes (with the exception of Luminoso, but you could have guessed that) and I love the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve. I mean the name perfectly describes the blush, it's not too bright but still gives a bit of colour to your cheeks without being over the top or in your face. To complete the face I couldn't live without highlighter, Mary Lou Manizer is my all time fave, it's just perfect. But I do want to try out some other highlighters to add to my collection, so let me know your picks! One of my favourite face brushes at the moment is the e.l.f. Studio Stipple Brush as I can use it with blush, bronzer or highlighter and picks up just the right amount of product and just makes it look good.

For the eyes it's all about the winged eyeliner, a drugstore gem is the Collection 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner, it's so cheap but does exactly what you want it to. The felt tip is the perfect size to make doing the wing super easily, I'm sometimes able to do it all in one stroke (with some small adjustments of course), it's small enough at the end to make a precise flick but thick at the base for you to easily line your eye. Plus it's super black and doesn't fade quickly, and, to remind you again, it's super cheap! To finish off I need some mascara! I went through a time where I didn't wear mascara but now I can't live without it. Mascara makes your eyes look so much more open and more awake so it's a must have for me, I have been using the Lancome Hypnose Drama which I have very mixed feelings about. At first I hated it because there was always so much product on the brush and used to clump up my lashes like nothing else, then it dried up a bit and I thought it was perfect! But now it's dried up too much and just flakes off throughout the day and it's not like I've had it for very long at all, only 2 months so I really wouldn't expect it to dry up as much as it has. It was good while it lasted but not something I will be rushing out to repurchase.
