A Holy Grail Product For Greasy Hair?

February 27, 2016

As soon as I heard about this range of hair products that L'Oreal had just brought out I knew that I had to get my hands on them ASAP. The Extraordinary Clay range is targeted towards people that have oily roots but dry ends which is basically my hair completely. I have tried so many balancing shampoos to keep the greasiness at bay but nothing has worked and nothing has been able to stop me from having to wash my hair every. single. day. Seriously my hair gets so greasy it's not even an option to wash it every other day.

If you are wanting to get this I would recommend getting it at superdrug while you can as the whole range is currently 1/3 off. I picked up the Re-Balancing Shampoo for £1.99 and Pre Shampoo Treatment for £3.99. The whole range is based around the 3 refined clays that L'Oreal have put into their products. Think of the clay masks you use on your skin that purify and cleanse, this is what they've turned into hair products that help to keep oil production at bay at the roots while hydrating the hair at the ends.

The clay mask does look a little bit scary as it is bright blue but don't be put off. With this you want to apply it to your roots and leave it in for about 5 minutes before getting into the shower. I like to apply it kind of generously but at the same time you don't want to completely over do it. It doesn't dry or anything when it's in your hair but I use this time to put my Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil on to take all of my makeup off. When you finally get in the shower and start to wash the clay mask out I have to say your hair feels a little weird. I felt that my hair was a little dry and almost hard to wash and move around but as soon as you put the shampoo in it returns to normal. I didn't pick up the conditioner from the range as I have so many different conditioners on the go I didn't feel the need to buy another.

So, what you've all been waiting for, the results. I found that the next day after using these products my hair did feel a lot cleaner and the roots stayed completely dry all day and just felt like they had been washed really well. But I don't think that it keeps the grease at bay long enough for me to be able to wash  my hair every other day. So although it does make my hair look freshly washed for longer than regular shampoos would it still doesn't make it look freshly washed for as long as I would want it to.  I really think that the pre shampoo mask is something you need to get if you are considering buying into this collection as I have found that using the shampoo alone doesn't do much yet with the mask it definitely makes my hair last longer.

The final verdict for this is that yes, I will be buying this again when I have finished up my current bottles as it does make my hair look freshly washed for a lot longer which is amazing for someone like me whose hair gets greasy really quickly. I think I could get away with washing my hair every other day with this if I desperately needed to but it is something that I would do purposely. Although I do want to try the dry shampoo that is in the range as this may help the hair to last on the second day. But this range does get a thumbs up from me and if you suffer from greasy roots and dry ends this is definitely the shampoo range for you.
